I just picked up my new 2007 Expedition. Yesterday when I went to start the truck, it would not turn over. All of the lights, windows and accessories would come on, but it wouldn't turn over at all.
After about 10 minutes, I tried again and it started. I drove it during the day and logged a total of 70 miles on the vehicle. After work, I went to leave and the same problem happened. I finally got it started and brought it back to the dealer.
They had it all day and checked the cables, ignition, transmission positioning switch and couldn't find any problems.
Best of luck with this problem! I had a similar problem with my previous expedition that I bought new in 2000. After having the truck towed to the dealer four times in one month, only to find that the truck started every time the next morning when they tried, I left the truck ther and told them I had to have a loaner until it got fixed. After 10 days they called to tell me they found the problem and fixed it--it was a cracked crank shaft sensor that got shorted out periodically by moisture getting in. I never had a problem after that. By the way, they replaced the fuel pump, made all new keys and several other things before the truck was kept there for the 10 days. BEST OF LUCK AND DON"T FORGET THE LEMON LAW!!
Thanks for the advice. I'll mention it to the dealer when I bring it back for service. These are the types of problems that are very hard to figure out. I never would have thought to check the crank shaft sensor.
