The job was suppose to be uppipes and 38r turbo upgrade. The uppipes bolts were so rusted they would not come out. So next think I know I'm pulling the motor. That was two weeks ago
Then once the motor was out the fun began. Had to buy good engine stand. The harbor freight 2 ton one worked good. Had to torch all 16 manifold bolts to remove them because they were leaking. Then I wanted to replace my rusty oil pan.
Then I painted the pan with por15 and mounted it. Then I painted the block manifolds rewrapped all electrical wires retorqued injectors, powerwashed frame and painted it with por15
So my plan tonight is to fire it for first time. Should I pull 42 pin connector and crank it a few times to prime the system just worried about a dry start???
Don't know the answer to your question, but I really admire your perseverance, and PRAY TO JESUS that I never have to get to this point.
I'm 70 and just don't want to have to go there.
Cheers on your efforts!!!
Put the DP tuner in the know start position and tune it over. That what I did when I put in my T500 and it worked great. Tuned it over several times, got fuel pressure and oil pressure then put it stock tune and started it up. Hope the exhaust manifolds don't burn that stuff off.
I do not think dry starting will be an issue, from what I have read, You a likely to kill the batteries just trying to get all the air out of the fuel system! Good luck! It's looking good. Is that a new QT, or is it just pretty?
Never had fuel problems. You don't crank to get fuel up there, it's not a mechanical pump. Turn the key on, listen to the fuel pump. When it shuts off, repeat as many time as you have to still it shut down quickly. You will still have air but you run that out when driving.
You have to crank for oil. You can watch your gauge for that. When you have pressure, do it a couple more times then try to start. Has always worked for me.
I always add oil to the rails through the ICP hole on the DS and the HPOP line fitting on the passenger side. Less air means less to compress before ICP comes up to minimum required pressure.Less strain on the starter and batteries.
