I was just told that the stock suspension on my 2000 x was worn out because the front leaf springs were flat instead of being a little curved upward. Does this sound right? It makes since that after 17 years the suspension would be worn out but didn't know what it looked like factory. I bought it when it was 13 years old and the front springs were flat then so I assumed that's the way it was suppose to be. what do you guys think?
The front leaf springs on these trucks have a very flat arch, even when they are brand new. If the springs are starting to bend backwards and the bump stops are starting to hit then that usually hints the front suspension is tired and fatigued.
IMO these trucks have very underrated springs both front and rear. A good way to figure out if the springs are in need of replacing is checking out the ride quality. Are you feeling like the front is "bouncing", swaying or anything like that?
Yep, front leaves are flat, or nearly so. The springs are actually doing the job that a lot of folks think shocks do, the old name for shocks was "dampers", they attenuate or kill oscillations after a bump or dip. If the springs are worn out, shocks won't help much and will wear out quickly. Worn shocks in turn are hard on suspension too.
I just looked and my front springs are actually sagging down. Do you guys see any problems with the rear springs wearing out on these. Just wondering if I should go ahead and replace them too
Normally, the rear leaf springs hold up fine over time. If you tow or want a lift, there a many options to upgrade. Our tech folder has thread links that go into detail depending on your needs.

if you think they are sagging, take it to a real suspension shop, have them inspect and if needed, they can pull & and re-arc (hot process only) the springs, re-install and they be good for another 17 years.....
