You've found it already, but it's ONLY one of the best mods you can do for your Ex!
Seriously though, I did the V/Modded B and when I drove it the first time it was like a completely different truck. Harder suspension than the spaghetti-noodle springs that were OEM but still soft enough for 8 and 12 hour drives completely comfortable...steering wander eliminated...100% more confident towing heavy trailers now. The V/Modded B and mirror upgrades were the two best things I did to my 2000.
I bought my X with 17k miles and 2 1/2 years old. It always had an inverted arch and always sat about 2" or so from the front bump stops. My buddies 05 Eddie Bauer with a V-10 that he bought new sits about 2" higher than mine. I don't know if there is a different spring for the 05 EB, but both are stick and have always been a few inches off from each other.
I was just told that the stock suspension on my 2000 x was worn out because the front leaf springs were flat instead of being a little curved upward. Does this sound right? ?
The simple and accurate way to determine if your leaf springs have sagged or "worn out" is to measure from the center of your wheel hub to the bottom of your fender arch.
When new the leaf springs held up your Excursion at a ride height that put the dimension at 23" in the front and 24" in the rear.
well I got around to measuring my excursion today and this is what I got. it is a 2000 7.3 4x4. 165000 miles. im guessing off these measurements there is an add a leaf in the back and my front is sagging by .5" to 1" according to some of the measurements in the other thread
