Need help determining tire size

Hi all,

I accidentally got my truck stuck on a very slippery road a way from home today. Even the tow trucks won't come and get it. Needless to say the road conditions are rather horrid right now.

However; I had not figured the tow truck would not come, so by the time I had gotten too far enough to go back to take photos of the tires, I wasn't in a position to go back easily. Yes, I should have done this prior...

Does anyone have an idea of how big these tires would be? I would like to get chains that might fit, as I have to hike them into a remote place for hours and I want to have the best chance as possible before I have to turn around again and do another 7k hike out to get new ones.

Thoughts? And yes I should have had chains in the first place...just wasn't thinking.

I see no one has answered you.....tough spot to be in for sure. It's really hard to guess the tire size just by the picture but I would say "maybe" 295-75-18 or 305-75-18. They do look bigger than stock size, hopefully you can find a set of chains that are kind of adjustable. Good luck anyway and I hope you have some help with you, where are you located?

Hi, thanks for your info.

I am in Terrace, BC right now.

I know the tires are after market, but to be honest I am not good with tire size. Thinking over 20...and, not even sure what that means. I go with inches here in BC. They seem to be larger than my friends that have 18" Dodge trucks, but once again - I didn't plan ahead enough.

I don't think those are 20" wheels, looks more like the stock Ford 18" but I could be wrong. Are you going to have some help getting back to where your truck is? BC has plenty of black bears roaming the country side....be careful.

Hi, thanks again for your info. I was thinking they were 18', perhaps on a lift kit. Kinda needed clarification tho.

Should have checked this more to be honest.

The bears all sleeping right now, its the cougars that I am much more worried about, however; going to get a ride and chains tomorrow and do a hike. I usually have bear spray, one in the truck and one in my hand.

Will DEFINATELY know more tomorrow, and most likely never travel without them anymore. It was all for getting my dog some exercise, and boy...did we ever.

Very much appreciate your kind thoughts and info/help. Much appreciated.

Will post back tomorrow, either way it goes.

Yea I guess the bears are all night night arent they, Cougars are sneaky, keep your eyes on the trail behind you, that's how they attack. Hopefully you won't see any, again, good luck.

Go to a tire shop, like a Les Schwab. They will look at your truck and show you what will work.

Can you find someone with a snowmobile to give you a ride?

If you purchased the tires, maybe go back to the tire shop and see if they have a record? Also, you can use the VIN number off the title to check the OE tire size in ETIS if those are indeed factory wheels.

Those are factory 18's. The tires look pretty big. Toyo OpenCountry AT's are available in 35x12.50x18 and 295/70/18. Those are the largest sizes, and they are close in overall size to each other. I would guess chains for either size will fit the other.
