lets not get confused, the Cooler/warmer in the bottom of the rad is for the trans. the trans will not shift correctly if Atf is to cool, OD and converter lock up will not happen till Atf is 70* or higher. most persons know to install aftermarket thermostatically controlled plate coolers, after the rad cooler/warmer, if additional cooling for towing is needed. No coolant enters on head, it exits any pipe or tube on the head, travels to heater core then to the pump, ALL fittings on pump are suction only, no coolant leaves pump except the two outlets bolted to the block. the hose that is connected in bottom hose or near the bottom hose on its own fitting is for allowing equalization as engine warms and the small amount of coolant that exits the bypass into the top rad hose needs to be replaced. ues a 3/8 line tee into heater line, before and after heater, between heater water control valve and block if your rig has vacume operated water controlled heat, install ball valves so filter can be changed with out draining block, install any where below rad cap height .change once a year when you change fuel filter.
