Guess I'm gonna have to drop the tank. This is after fill up but gauge reads different every time I start it.
Anybody know about those toggle switches? Left one (broken) is to switch tanks. Others, no clue. Are these stock or after market?
Those toggle switches are aftermarket, not genuine Ford.
1973/79 F100/350's with factory installed dual fuel tanks have the selector switch located in the heater control panel, but there are 2 types.
1) 1973/74 F100/350's have a manually operated fuel tank selector valve located on the floor adjacent to the drivers side of the seat.
The switch in the heater panel only changes the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) 1975/79 F100/350's have a fuel tank selector valve and solenoid assembly mounted on the frame rail.
The selector switch located in the heater panel changes the fuel tanks and the dash fuel gauge from one tank to the other.

Thanks. I thought they were after market and saw in the manual where it's supposed to be on the heater control panel. My heater control panel does not have the switch. Does it mean somebody added the cab tank? It has a Ford invoice sticker still on it.
The switch does activate the valve as well as switch the gauge.
I have the solenoid mounted on the frame rail but it's after market, I though it might be a replacement.
IDK about PO adding tank. I was curious but filler neck and hole on body look stock. If it was added it was well done using Ford parts. Did all cabs come with mounting holes for cab tanks?

If trucks came with factory installed mid-ship and aft axle fuel tanks, there was no in-cab tank.
Most 1973/77's with an in-cab tank were either F250 4WD's (High Boys) or F500/880's. High Boy cancelled February 1977, in-cab tank cancelled at the end of the 1977 model run.
1973/76 Stylesides have exposed mid-ship & aft axle fuel caps, 1977/79's have fuel doors.
My 77 (pardon the mistake in my forum name) has the fuel door on the aft tank. No midship tank.
I understand that it might not have come with the cab tank but did all cabs have the mounts regardless of delivered with the tank or not. Because mine is bolted to what looks like a stock mounting points.

I don't know whether they did or not, because I've never looked at any in person. The parts catalog isn't any help either...as it doesn't show the mounts.
People make changes for many reasons, some make sense, some do not. For example, the city where you live was originally spelled Alburquerque. Why did the city fathers decide to drop that first R?
So you have a in cab and aft axle tank, correct? Do you have a cab floor switch lever? Here is what an OEM tank switch should look like for a aux in front of the axle and an aft of the axle tank.

Haha, no idea on the R.
Didn't mean to offend. Certainly if the PO added the tank he had good reason, he camped with it so maybe he needed the range. Like I said if the tank was added later it was well done and I'm just trying to learn more about my truck from the people here with more knowledge than I'll ever have.

I do have an aft axle and in cab.
I don't have the floor lever and there was no hole when I replaced the carpet.
