I have my vin, i have my serial number from the block are the two connected in anyway so i can prove that motor came with this truck or didn't come with this truck?
So I so I guess I'm asking if I can identify my motor to my vehicle VIN number. I received my truck back in pieces from an auto mechanic in town and I'm trying to figure out if he gave me my block back the block that was matched up with my truck from the factory?
Thanks for all the info in this thread. I just contacted my dealer about possibly getting them to install upfitters in my 2017 F350 Lariat 6.2L DRW. He said he didn't think it'd be a problem - asked me to confirm if it had the moonroof, electronic dimming rear view mirror, power rear glass, and then asked me to email him my VIN. He quoted me ~$240 for just the overhead console and told me he'd email me back all the rest of what I'd need. Will let you guys know how it goes.
My truck came w/o the Ultimate package but with lots of the goodies added in separately. 2 things I really wish it had - upfitters and the heated steering wheel. Not even going to try and see what it'd cost to get a heated steering wheel added after the fact!
If you have time and ability, install the Upfitters yourself. Parts cost me less than $380. I have only the power rear window. More options, more costly for the console.
You must have this connector in your left a-pillar. A 10mm socket to remove two bolts from the grab handle, and you're in.

Thank you for the pics and documenting your install process. I read that thread front to back and even forwarded it along to my dealer (they've a couple of really good gear heads over there too). I plan to take apart just enough of the A-pillar this weekend to see if I've the necessary connectors in place or not.

Good luck to you. With a XLT Ultimate, I'd be surprised if that connector isn't there. If they have problems sourcing parts with your VIN, find a truck with your current overhead console options (Moonroof, Power Rear Window, etc.), AND the correct interior color, and have them use THAT VIN to look for parts.

Since 1968, manufacturers have been required to stamp the block and transmission case with either a partial or full VIN. The stamping on the block and transmission will contain all or some of the VIN sequence. Find the VIN stamp on the block and see if it jives with your vehicle VIN. You will likely find a number of casting marks on the block and these are just references to the manufacturing process of the block (pour date and plant, engineering casting code and such). The VIN will be stamped. It should go without saying but if you find the VIN stamp and it bears no relationship to your vehicle VIN, then you do not have a matching block.

Thanks again. I'm running a Lariat, non-Ultimate but with lots of add-ons. The dealer is checking my VIN from their end and I'll do my own checking over the weekend.
Has anyone accessed the upfitter wires on a 2017+ from inside the cab?
I have switch #1 wired to backup lights, but I have a bad habit of leaving them turned on, thereby blinding the person behind me.
In my 2016 truck, I purchased a small programmable speaker and wired that in parallel with the backup light circuit. That way, when I had them on it would hear a subtle "ding... ding... ding..." alerting me that I'm using the lights.
That really helped!
I want to do that on the 2017, but not sure where to access the wires inside the cab.

You might want to consider using one of the passthrough wires in the passenger-side floorboard area.
Do they pass through the same way as the older models? Just under the driver side dash?
The passthru wires are located on the passenger side near the floor board. The upfitter switches are under the hood on the drivers side behind the fuse box. You would have to run a wire under the hood from the drivers side uppfiter wire to the passenger side passthru wire. Then you would have to locate the passthru wire on the passenger side near the floorboard and connect whatever you want to that wire. Pretty simple.

Thanks for that explanation.
Sadly it sounds less user friendly than I was hoping for adding interior accessories.
I was hoping there would be a pre-made load side inside the cab somewhere.
I just ordered a truck and I added upfitters on it.
So I think I am understanding your post correctly, for any powered add ons inside the cab they make you run a jumper wire from a load side (upfitter output) wire under the hood and across the truck to these pass through wires? it seems "kind" of hokey of them to do that.
They could have easily added the wire to have the load / output wires in both locations (inside cab and underhood) and then up to the user to designate which gets used for which.
