Tried a search didn't find what I was looking for.
Noticed a burnt rubber smell while driving today. Stopped at a gas station and before I could get around to the other side of the truck, a guy stopped and told me there was smoke coming from the passenger rear wheel well. The truck seemed to run and drive fine. Didn't seem to be any noticeable drag, but once I got home I felt that wheel and it was a bit warmer than the others.
My parking brake pedal is all the way out and pulling on the release doesn't seem to relieve any pressure or "Pop" like it normally would if releasing the brake.
We've got a good downpour of freezing rain right now and I'm not able to start pulling things apart. Anything easy I can try for now? Pretty sure it's seized by the way it's acting but I really don't use the parking brake. Auto trans and I live in a really flat area.
Take a hammer and tap the arms where the cable connects to help release. The joints in those levers are probably seized from not using.
On the other hand, your backing plates may have finally rusted through and let the shoes fall into contact with the inner drum.
To tap on the levers, no. To see if the plates are rusted, maybe, but you should be able to see the shoe hold down pins from the back. If not there, they are probably rolling around in the drum.
To get at the e brake, pull the wheel, caliper, bracket, and rotor.
The shoes are REALLY expensive for what they are so hopefully they aren't ruined.

Reason: Typo
Had my wife engage/ disengage the park brake so I could see what was happening at the wheel. I gave everything a good tap but it all seemed to be working properly. Drove it to get fuel and back to the house, didn't notice any smell or any issue.
Could this somehow be an intermittent issue? Or could it be a rear brake issue?
Sounds like you could have a bad caliper or siezed brake slide pins. You can take the pins off and lube them with silicone grease by laying under the truck, I do mine twice a year. Otherwise bad calipers plague these trucks to no end if you search around here. When I bought my 08 in 2015, I had to stop on the way home and hit the caliper with a hammer to unjam it after the wheel started smoking.
