My truck was bought with a billet insert and it needed attention. I first tried Plasti Dip and it did not come out well. It was a PITA to remove too because it did not coat well enough to just peel off. But, mine is the billet with the numerous fins. I just ended up rattle canning some matte black Rustoleum on it. The outer grille shell was LineX'd.
I guess it depends on your grille. Larger, more flat surface areas are much easier to Plasti Dip.
Not to hi jack the post but it is about grills. I have been looking all over for the grill for a 2016 that is on the Rough Country site with the 30" led bar. The 2 big chrome bars are perforated. I like the look and it would compensate for the air blockage of the driving lights, not that you would need it. Does anyone know who made that grill? I now un-hi jack the post!
did you do the white as well? looks nice. Any tips?
Thanks DeeDubz. I did front and rear bumpers in white as well as the grill surround white. Then the black crossbars. My biggest tip is to be sure to overdo the number of coats you put on. If you think you have enough...do a couple more. The more coats you put on the better the color will be. Also try to plastidip in a fairly warm environment. It sprays on much better and leaves a smoother finish. Ive had my plastidip done for about a month and it is holding up great. Definitely one of my favorite mods to date, it completely changed the look of my truck and it gets compliments all of the time.
