I use a wire wheel in my bench grinder. The fine brush works great. I dont think I would ever use a scotch brite pad on anything I wasn't sure I had completely 100% clean after.
IDI-Charlie, not sure of your 20, but I have heard on their local advertising that “Diesel Plus” in Ringold, GA can test the 7.3 injectors along with other brands. Just Google them and give a call. One of the co-owners is Mike Perkins (Doctor Diesel); he and I at one time worked for the same company. He also is the diesel co-host on a Saturday morning radio car question/answer program.

Seriously, good info of course added to the topic! 👍
Never sent them off to get tested actually. Ended up going with new injectors in the long run. They had about 371k when I swapped them, they lived a good life.

Correct. This one never really reached a resolution on facilities, so it was never updated at the time. Shortly after this I got the two in question swapped under warranty, and went to 160/80s about 35k miles ago.

Definitely good to know. If I ever need some tested in the future I will be sure to give them a ring - appreciate the heads up!

Not all ‘injector testing’ is the same.
The variables include ICP, testing fluids, fluid temperature, accuracy of measurement, the ability to make accurate adjustments, etc. It’s also worth noting that ‘injector balance’ can be skewed by the number of cycles in the test (more cycles exposes greater differences). Some builders advertising minimum % deltas could be using limited cycles so they don’t exceed their advertised balance.
I think it is Bitterroot’s goal to provide the most accurate and most real-world testing on the market. From what I can tell, the other’s are either not using the specified HEUI ‘calibration fluid’, testing with ‘cold’ fluid and injectors, not using operating condition ICP are using primitive measuring methods, etc.
I will also say if you read the fine print in the advertising for other builders, you can see wiggle room in their claim of ‘all new parts’ being used.
I have personally been burned by most of the popular 7.3 injector builders. Unlike a guy putting injectors in his truck in the driveway, I have been paid to install injectors for others. When the injectors that I recommended don’t work right, I don’t charge my customer/friend to swap the garbage out. I feel like most of these guys started out building decent injectors and gradually cut back on quality to improve their margins. It is refreshing to see a company that truly puts their heart in their product and would rather sell nothing that put out a bad product.
