I have a bell housing 79 351m I'm guessing I need a new flywheel 351m probably and as far as motor mounts I would prefer new perches but is it possible to use my current ones
Is there a specific year 460 I need can I make an efi one carb
Slow it down a notch. You just asked for like 50 pages worth of info in one paragraph. The 460 route is a good one, many different people have done it several different ways. If you are going to use the 351/400 bellhousing you are either going to have to use the expensive L and L flywheel and clutch or get a 390 flywheel and have it modified if need be. I did the L and L route, much simpler. 351/400 flywheel will NOT work. You could try and find a mid 80s donor and use the motor and tranny. They used a hydraulic clutch setup. Do a search on here for info, there's plenty of it.
OK so here's a thought I take a 460 with a 460 flywheel I take the ring gear off (176?) And cut it to accept the smaller 180 tooth ring gear assuming it uses a smaller minor diameter if it's the same yay
OK so my next issue obviously becomes the gear depth assuming it is different I would set the depth so I don't need some wierd starter
I finally pulled the motor apart it threw a rod which broke the camshaft plus both head gaskets were blown the drivers side had burn marks on the gasket and 6-7 were filled with coolant
But I was right the ticking at least partially was valves hitting the piston no. 2 broke and it had obvious damage to the piston and a few metal shavings in the head

guess that explains why it finally quit running. You going with the aforementioned 460 or doing something else?
After all the changed plans and the miscarriage that was my deployment all the parts for the 460 got split up into other vehicles so long story short a rebuilt 390 is the new plan

Sounds like a good plan! Good luck and keep us informed!
Well it happened again they're threatening to impound it for being "abandoned" and despite the fact that I was there this time to tell them it wasn't abandoned I still got a warning
So now we're going to play games and hide a monster truck until the new motor gets here
So I'm going to take a 7'7" truck and hide it in the 7'6" parking garage it should be fun
