Finally

I finally drove it but the coil fell onto the headers the power steering belt cut the fuel line and the pinion seal blew I almost made it back when I stalled it and a shot starter was the end of my fun

Umm. Maybe curb the enthusiasm a bit and next time do a "pre-flight" to avoid problems like that.

Congrats for the most part I guess. ... excluding the "truck ups"!

I think I would call it "Captain Hook" with that HUGE hook on the front LOL.....and agree with Hio.....might want to slow the roll a bit and make sure its ready to go before the next flight.......

It was going to get impounded if I didn't move it so it could only wait so long

Yeah....that's reason enough to drive it with parts falling off.....I'd have done the same if I couldn't trailer it LOL

So here's the new problem

When I'm going uphill it revs up dies down and repeats until I hit third

It's got an Edelbrock performer intake and carb

The starter wont come out because of the headers they have a popping noise from them so new gaskets might do good

The shaking while going uphill was caused by a loose motor mount so that was easy

So I swapped the starter battery starter relay and cables put the headers back on and sheared the gear off it immediately

I drove the truck 250 miles parked it there let it sit for 2 months and it acts like I just pulled it out of a field or something it's just ridiculous

New conundrum here the starter as far as I can tell is fine the ring gear isn't perfect but it's usable

It seems to not be engaging

It still won't start any ideas

The component in the starter that throws the small gear forward...bendix?

My bad I wasn't clear it's not going forward why would it do that I've never seen that out of a ford starter I took it apart and everything is fine

35 years ago, before there was an AutoZone on every corner, my dad taught me how to change the Bendix gear in these starters. Could be a bad bendix, but sounds more like the armature to me
