Do not be afraid of modifications "IF" they were done right and with a purpose that you agree on. For example, I just added OUO traction bars to my truck in order to remove axle wrap when towing my 5th wheel trailer. I can speak to them, I can tell you why and how I installed them. This should be reason enough for a potential buyer to move onto their next concern and I can address that one as well.
I bought my truck with 228,000 miles, it now has 242,000. I have driven it cross country from GA to Seattle and back towing a 30 ft travel trailer. Clem1226 nailed it, there are a lot of neglected "stock" trucks out there, just as much as their are abused modified trucks. You need to find the well taken care of stock or the highly valued and modified with a purpose modified truck.
I bought my truck 2.5 years ago, and it was stock. It is far from that now, but it is better in just about every way because of what I have done. Again, the seller needs to be capable of providing a good reason why the mod was done and "because it smokes more" or "I can do burn outs with that thing on there" does not qualify.
This truck has been one of the best purchases I have made in my entire life, even at 228,000 miles and some TLC needed.
Here is a picture of the engine bay of my truck and a recent picture when we drove 1200 miles round trip to pick up our new to us 5th wheel. Happy hunting friend, let us know how this turns out for you.
I would agree. Nice truck. The silver truck I agree with the guy but I'm put off by the rust situation. Sent picture of my truck and one part is better the other worse. I'm going to talk to a body guy to see what it takes. Seems like pickups go for stupid money lately...
Thank you all for your responses. I am actually going to be buying the 7.3 IDI I looked at first. It's a flatbed but has less than 100,000. The seller on that was completely honest and is only 45 minutes away. And the truck has zero rust. When I purchase it I will check before I leave to make sure I missed nothing on my first inspection.
Hello again. Now looking for a different vehicle the last deal fell through. Found this on Craigslist. It's about an hour and 45 from me. Figured I'd get a good opinion on here on whether it's a good deal. If its legitimate.

Just a note on the rust. If it is small hole in one area it is most likely much bigger than meets the eye, just watch some of the car restoration shows on TV. Not saying they are all that way but rust is like a cancer, it spreads unseen before it rears it's ugly little head.
I'm all too familiar with rust. My 96 half ton has the same issue. But in order to keep something nice I'll have to start with it being nice or really close to it I think. My current truck. Love it to death but needs a break so I can catch up on work on it.
