I have 2002 F250 7.3 Auto, I recently tried to put my truck in to 4 wheel drive and it is not working. It has WARN manual locking hubs, which I locked. Dash indicator came on and I can hear it click on the transfer case. Yet it isn't driving the front tires. It shouldn't be a vacuum issue considering it had been converted to manual hubs should it?
Unlock the Warn hubs... put in 4x4.... have someone watch to see if front axle is turning. If turning, your 4x4 is engaging.
Pull the Warn hubs... Silver? Take them completely apart... clean with brake cleaner. Spray with a light oil, do NOT grease. The spring in these hubs is weak... if you have old cold grease in the gear spines... they will not lock.
Oh... and sometimes... when you engage... rock truck back in forth... Drive to Reverse... sometimes that will help a hub lock in place.
I clean my hubs 1-2 times a year... its so embarrassing to have a 4x4 get stuck...
never had that problem. the warn hubs on my 79 have been on it forever, the ones on the 88 were put on in 91, and the ones on the 02 were put on 11 years ago. they lock every time i try them, and they have never been touched since put on.
The hubs were on the truck when I bought it. Whoever installed them didn't put the big spring in them, so it wasn't allowing the floating head to move properly. Called WARN and they are shipping me replacements free of charge!
