Dude... slow down... commas, please.
To answer your question, eeegad.... maybe somebody knows kinda offhand, or maybe @NumberDummy can look up NO SCRATCH THAT you're asking about the entire carrier assembly and not just the bearings, correct?
Something can maybe be put together but the later stuff is gonna have disc brakes and no mechanical speedometer connection, it'll be a tone ring to talk to a computer.
A good place to find interchange sometimes is the junkyard site Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market. But in this case it doesn't work too well, they mostly sell the complete rearend since the guts are not easily swapped on the 8.8. I looked up your truck and it did come up with a lot of hits and interchanges for yours and earlier models, but they were all 9 inch rearends, which of course are easily swapped. For several years Ford installed the 9 inch and the 8.8 rearends during the same model years. So your 85 could have had either one.
I under stand what you want to do take the LS out of the IRS and drop it in place of what you have now.
I can not answer that but as some one said if they have tone ring would that get in the way??
I can tell you you are best going for new because unlike the 9" that you can drop the center section in, the 8.8 center is part of the housing so you have to set up the gears. Setting up gears is not fun then throw in used gears and we will see you at the funny farm!
Can it be done....yes but it is a lot harder and may make noise when done even if you use your gears.
And because you are changing the carrier you are starting for scratch for setup.
Now if you like the gear ratio you have now you might want to look into something like Lock Rock Locker. They replace the spider gears in the stock carrier assy. no gear setup needed. Some make noise when free wheeling around corners and some don't.
It does lock both axles together under power so when going around corners if slick the back can kick out on you and if dry you get tire chirp.
I have one in a 96" wheelbase car and makes for fun when slick out, being in a long(er) WB don't think you would have any issues like that but still need to watch for it.
