Hi, just bought a 1994 F250 7.3 Diesel IDI 190k miles with a after market Banks Turbo, truck is a regular cab long bed 4x4, manual i'm guessing the transmission is a E4OD (correct me if i'm wrong), my dad says the transmission is going out, the whole truck vibrates until you get up to a higher rpm, the 4th gear also clashes my main concern is the vibration i think its coming from the transmission, the truck smoothens out and sounds so nice when you get up to a higher rpm and put your foot in it, but when your taking it slow or let off the gas or just cruising the truck, the truck just vibrates and is so loud. Any help is appreciated. -Justin
The E4OD is an automatic so if you have an automatic transmission this that is it. If its a manual tranny, then its the ZF5. Do you notice any smoke at idle or when you are getting up to speed?

Sorry, I just realized that after I posted it, yes I do have the manual tranny ZF5, and yes there to quite a bit of white smoke on start up and idle, also driving in first or second gear at low speeds.
Check to see if the transmission crossmember is tight to the frame. Check your transmission fluid and make sure it's full. Matter of fact, I would drain it and replace it so you're sure of what you have. Check universal joints, if you can, when the driveshaft is out of the vehicle-a frozen or stiff joint will not show wear but it'll vibrate. Also if this is occurring in four-wheel-drive or if you don't have lockout hubs, the front CV joint is usually the culprit.
