Sweaty cab
Has anyone found a good fix for the roofs of our trucks. When it's cold out (15* right now) the roof on my 79 sweats so bad you would swear your in a rain forest, frozen. Will a roll on bed liner work? What have you guy's done?
Thanks for any input.

15F is a warm day here and I have no issue. At -30 it gets a little frosty but still nothing like you describe.
Is there a chance your heater core is leaking? That will steam up a cab real quick.
Happy January!
Insulate the roof panel and the issue will go away. Tuck stuff down the side and front rails too... your roof will thank you.

When I open up a door or roof, I usually add some to quiet and insulate. I used it doubled up, on the generator box of my Toyhauler Trailer. It really quieted it down.
It is much cheaper than the name brand sound deadeners. My only concern, is if it might retain water, on a floor or inner door? It is rubber foam on aluminium foil.
On one of my 2, 1996 Impala SS's, I used a lot of it when I installed new carpet and upholstery. That car is very quiet.
Perhaps there is some sort of desiccant pack stout enough to have the desired effect against this moisture. If you can get a dehumidifier in there, that should dry things out. And if you have working AC, then run the compressor with your heat when you drive it.
And are you asking about protecting against this unwanted water cycle with the bed-liner? A bed-liner coating will protect the precious metal, but won't stop water from condensing on itself.
The cold outside air keeps the roof-skin cold, and when the cab is heated from the inside, ambient moisture condenses on the warm side of the roof, just like it does on the outside of your favorite cold canned-beverage, in a room-temperature setting...
This truck is a F350 Dually, dump bed,460 auto.
I only drive this truck a couple time a month since it is a farm truck. So from the advice I guess the best place to start is patching the hole in the floor boards next to the gas pedal. (it never bothered me since my foot doesn't fall through)Then I will look into some sort vapor barrier/insulation.
Thanks again.
