i have water coming in my cab when it rains. it's right at the kick panel i guess you'd call it. that black plastic piece right under the door. i checked the weather seal, it's worn thru in a few places but the seal is dry at the base of the door. accually the whole door is dry. the only place i can see water is coming out of the little oval shaped holes right at the bottom joint where the outside door panel meets the inside door panel. i went to lmc truck and purchased a set of window seals cos mine are cracked and letting water in but i got to thinking that the oval holes are on the outside of the weather seal and there's no way they could be letting water in the cab. so i'm at a loss. the water comes in when the truck is sitting so it's not a hole in the floor board. i've checked that anyway. i'd like to get some advice before i continue arbitrarily replacing parts.
Check the rubber seal around the top of the door (where the door frame meets the cab roof) and also check the plastic membrane behind the door trim panel.
If it comes in around the windshield it can migrate to the floorboards. '72-'93 Dodges do this.
They also develop cracks around the "cab" around the front behind the front fender and can leak there.
Just some places to check.
My cab lights are letting water in my cab, driving me nuts trying to figure out which one is leaking.
Also leaves can get down in the cowl area, then wind up down in the air vents, or where the kick panel air vents used to be.
That stops up a drain, and can cause water to come in behind the kick panels and onto the floor.
Remove the kick panel, then remove the block off plates (4 screws each) and vacuum out the leaves and dirt.
I blew mine out with a shop air hose after I vacuumed out as much as I could, no more water on the floor.
Just to back-up Dave.....
I pulled the interior, blower motor etc. out of my '86 after I got it and everything was so full of CRAP it was unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
ShopVac and air compressor got quite a work-out that day!
I had a leak in a 92 E350 that ended up coming in from a rusted area that was only accessable with the battery removed and back near the fire wall and fender. It took me a long time to find it. I patched it with some of the 8" aluminum on one side and a 1/16 inch of some black soft very sticky material on the other side. The tape can be found in Walmart, Lowes, HomeDepot sometimes in the roofing material area. Heating the tape with a hair dryer provides even better adhesion.
