Oil pan for crown vic front suspension swap

Hopefully someone will be able to help with this. Spent almost 2 hrs reading through posts searching for an answer. I have seen where when installing a FE engine on the cv suspension you have to use a rear sump oil pan and they are expensive as hell. So my thought is that I can small block it for the same price as the FE oil pan including buying a AOD and having it rebuilt. My problem is that I haven't been able to find anywhere if the sbf has to also use the rear sump or if a front sump will work. If anyone has any experience with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes I know this but knowing and finding one are two totally different things.

If you do not notch the frame like I have done, and need to finish. You can use the stock Fe oil pan, and have 3/4-1 inch of clearance Clarence. I put in a CV kit for a friend, and we used a 302 with a 1 inch frame notch. Still had over a 1/2 of clearance.

My frame is notched 2.5 inches, and I used a FE for mock up. I switched to a 4.6 2V aluminum motor for no other reason then it looked like a 427 sohc sort of.

If you are handy with a welder you can shorten the oil pan, and extend it back with another one. The oil pick up is straight down on a FE or most Ford engines. Making a quick operation if you wanna shorten it.

what year & model truck did you put the 4.6 motor in? I'm doin a 1973 Ford F100 truck. I just found a 4.6 I want to transplant. Do I need to do anything to my pan?
I notched my frame 3 inches & installed a Jaguar XJS independent suspension with air-ride
