Delayed start
Hi all, I've noticed it takes my truck much longer to start recently. I have 2 brand new interstate batteries, just changed both fuel filters and my truck still takes a good 10 seconds or more of spinning over to fire. Is this normal? I don't remember my truck doing this before, it usually fired right up even in winter. Could this be an injector or glow plug issue?

do you have a monitor or scanner? You might need to check FICM voltage

I have an SCT tuner/monitor. Will that effect the FICM?

Update: I had some of the guys at the shop where I work take a look at it and they think its definitely a glow plug issue.

These trucks are pretty good about throwing glow plug codes if any are going out. There are also a few vids on YouTube showing how you can test the glow plugs and harness with a multimeter.

Is it long crank to start worse when cold, the same cold or hot, or worse when hot?

Is it endless cranking,, or spitting and sputtering while acting like it might start??

^^^ right here is bad glow plug indication^^^ and then it will go. Will do this on 3 bad plugs or more and smoke.

It's worse when it's cold.
