I finally got around to getting remote start turned on with FORscan, all the tips and video was a big help. Does anyone know how to activate the last part of the install for the instrument cluster to show in the settings menu? I'm not even sure of which module to open.
If you have an MS-CAN OBD II adapter you can enable it in ForScan. Let me know if you have one, and I'll find the settings to modify to enable it.
For me, I just went to Ford, told them my remote start was active, but the gauge cluster menu was not there, and if they could reactivate the whole thing. They did, and didn't charge me anything.
I changed the following and it ended up working for me.
Remote Start: In 726-19-01, change 0047 (disabled) to 0148 (enabled).
Remote Start Menu in Cluster: In 720-01-02, change EC0A (disabled) to EF2A(enabled).
You might have to look up some vins from an FX4 or Lariat that had the RS factory installed. That way you can get the as-built from those trucks and look at what's written on the 720-01-02 line.
If anyone is interested in getting there remote start to show up in the settings menu, I figured it out with a little help from the FORscan forums. In IPC module 710-01-02 change just the middle 2 from C0 to F2. My dash is FX so it went from 4C0A to 4F2A. I think this works in most of the dash configurations.
I just wanted to give a shout out, thank you and confirm that these settings worked on my 2013 F150 XLT.
Remote Start: In 726-19-01, change 0047 (disabled) to 0148 (enabled).Remote Start Menu in Cluster: In 720-01-02, change EC0A (disabled) to EF2A(enabled).Additional Comments to finding these settings:
The settings to enable remote start are found in the Body Control Module (AS BUILT format)
The Instrument Panel Cluster settings are found in the IPC Module Configuration (AS BUILT format)
I used Forscan to write the changes (made backups first in Forscan). I heard in the youtube video I reference below that your ODB II connector needs to have MS-CAN to get into the instrument panel settings. The ODB II > USB cable I purchased was $23 off of Amazon, "bbfly-BF32302 ELM327 USB modified FTDI chip OBD2 ELMconfig Forscan HS-CAN / MS-CAN OBD". This wasn't packaged with the driver I needed for Win 7, but I did find it after some hunting on the site they recommend. See below. Forscan's website has a list of compatible devices. I chose an ELM327 for it's HSCAN/MSCAN capability so I could get into the instrument cluster settings.
Other material I used in my information gathering (bits and pieces of the puzzle I had to put together):
This video wasn't perfect and took me a few tries. I've found there are different instructions for if you have 1 existing key or 2 keys. I had 2 keys, so this video was the closest I found, but wasn't perfect.
I just purchased a 2014 f-150 so am I to understand that the truck already has most of the remote start installed and all I have to do is follow the video?
