2.9 no start

I just finished rebuilding my 1990 2.9 and it wouldn't start. When we did the initial start up, the truck needed ether to start and ran decently while stumbling. I found out that the spout connector was removed from the previous owner so I spliced it but still no help starting

I installed a new fuel filter, fuel pump, cleaned the injectors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, air filter and cleaned the MAF.

Its not a spark problem because I'm getting good spark from all the cylinders and yes the timing was set correctly. It sounds like it wants to start but just doesn't have something to make it boom.

There are also no codes

I posted on the other topic, but would add you might try stepping on the gas pedal. If the IAC is goofy, it won't open and provide air, and the engine won't start. The MAP can also diddle with the fuel mix, confusing the computer about the engine load, leading to lean or rich conditions, and a terribly unstable idle.

I tried starting with foot pedal at 1/4 1/2 3/4 and full throttle and nothing still

I'm going to check the fuel pressure again today and tell you guys what I get.

Would it be possible for the fpr fail and instead of rupturing the diaphragm and leaking gas into the intake, the gas would leak into the return line?

Keep in mind everything I've put on is new/ cleaned except the FPR.

Does it still try and run if you spray starting fluid into it?

It runs like a champ after it starts with starting fluid but there is a light hesitation still

Which fuel line is the pressure side??
I was getting 48 psi out of the metal shaft that came straight out of the FRP

i couldnt test the fuel rail though because the shrader valve wouldn't come out/ the rental didn't have the proper connection

The only place to test fuel pressure is through the schrader valve. It should 40 PSI key-on-engine-off, and 34 PSI at idle.

See if it starts if you unplug the MAF sensor.

You're really starting to confuse me now. In your first post, you said you cleaned the MAF sensor. Now you're asking me where it is? How can you clean something, if you don't know where it is, or what it looks like?

It's the large metal device attached to the air box lid. It has an electrical connection and the intake tube connecting to it.
