Meaning how do you install it after the fact? I installed mine by checking the box when I ordered it

He couldn't. It's not available from the factory on a 2x4.

I would have a dealer do it, I could see doing a B&W flip over ball at home with one hole but to have to holesaw 5 holes and get them all exact would be a feat. I would go to the dealer you bought your truck from and see how well they take car of you on labor/parts to install it since Ford for what ever reason thinks no one tows with a 2x4.

Because it's not available to order from the factory on a 2x4. No physical reason. Ford just doesn't offer it.

Petei ordered a 2wd and has been complaining about not being able to order the 5th package (and rightfully so) since back in April. I remember back in 2011, the SB trucks couldn't be ordered with it either. Ford came around either in Job 3 or 2012 but you couldn't get it initially. Again, no reason for it. Perhaps the 2wd trucks will have it available in future the same way they did in 2012 with the SB's. IDK...

I'm guessing bolting in the mount is easy. It's drilling my brand new bed that would intimidate me...

I thought it might be slick marketing on Fords part, but it wouldn't make sense to force a $4000 4x4 option to get a $600 underbed mount installed by someone else.
It really makes no sense to not have the option. What am I missing?
