Well I am a licensed sheet metal worker as well so measurements and power tools are second nature lol

I came from that stock. Granddad was a tin knocker. But the other side of the family did different trades and I picked up those instead. Too bad. It's dying art with so much prefab now.

Very true I learned from my grandfather and my dad got my sheet metal,plumbing,refrigeration and gas license from them as well it was a family run shop till my dad past and now I run it and my 2 boys 21 and 18 want no part of it so sad

I believe that the part required for the 4x2 fifth wheel prep is different from the 4x4 fifth wheel prep. Ford probably decided not to handle both parts at the factory due to low demand for 4x2 and even lower demand for 4x2 with fifth wheel prep.

What is this 2WD truck you speak of? Must be a unicorn, don't think I've ever seen one. LOL

But it is kinda silly the option is not available.

Yep, same parts. Just not a factory option. I bet it changes for 2018 but who knows...

Does the bed come with the dimples in the right sorts to guide the drill? Without that, it seems too easy to mess up.

The bed come with the indentation where the hole suppose to be.

I've put in two Reese under bed mounts before ford brought this option to the table. After you mount the the rails under the bed you screw a pointed 6" bolt up through the puck mounts into the bottom of the bed and it dimples it.
If your bed wasn't pre dimpled from the factory then this is a simple solution to line up the holes.

So, if there is one extra bracket then there would be no confusion at the plant during build. It's not like the rest of the kit is any different no?

I order the right P/N but I wander how high I got to pick up the bed to slide the bracket under.
