They're international - big factory 50 miles from me... Why do you think they went metric? They also have to answer to shareholders.
That said, I don't like outsourcing either. Produce as much as possible inside the country, keep the national skills high, reduce shipping costs, and reduce reliance on unfriendly countries. This bit is where government needs to ensure a favourable and stable tax regime, plus good education.

Anything that is for national defense should always be built at home.

as far as possible, yes. When I see what the British Army is buying now... On the other hand what's to stop Boeing just putting the price up? I reckon the Airbus bid kept them honest this time.

If you believe Mark Fields, he said the fact that ford felt there would be an all around better climate in the u.s. under a Trump administration and that was one of the deciding factors, among other reasons.
As a current ford employee, this news makes me feel a lot better about my future at ford. I was getting concerned that senior employees from other states that might have lost jobs would move to K.C. and take mine.
We should all encourage everyone we know to support ford for this move no matter what lead them to do it. It's good for American workers and America.
