One thing that caught my attention was this little tidbit:
military-grade alloy and composite body for added strength and reduced weight.
Anyone know what part(s) are composite? Based on the overall description, composite body parts would be "stock".

The hood and front fenders are composite.

Not the bedsides too? I'd imagine the tooling cost drove the unique hood and fenders toward SMC, and I would think it would drive the bedsides to composite as well.

Ford Performance and Greg Foutz Motorsports fielded a preproduction 2017 F-150 Raptor
Figures it's always preproduction trucks. I know the differences are minimal if non-existent, but still. It's never a production truck. I'd prefer actual production trucks, even if they had to wait, it'd still be just as effective marketing. But I get why they do it earlier.

I have zero issues with composite bodies or panels, long as they are in the right places, I'd prefer the few extra pounds of weight savings over metal. To this day has anyone figured what "military grade" alloy these trucks are made from? Been asking this since before the '15s rolled out. And do they come with mil-spec sheets to confirm it? Just asking, cause if I ever had an issue, I'd know what alloy it was and get the proper filler metal and heat treatment to possibly weld it.

My '01 SuperCrew had SMC bed sides. That stuff was/is tough. It will crack if flexed to much though.

100 mph across the desert, A/C on, and George Strait on the satellite radio. That's my kind of race truck.

Pretty cool to see a totally stock Raptor racing again.

I read recently (I forgot where) that the Aluminum is same as what was used in Humvees. I too had been wondering what applications the 'military grade' Aluminum was used in, until I learned that.

I LMAO when I saw the towing capacity. Especially when the Ecoboost fanboys were touting the towing superiority of the new 3.5 and 10 Speed over a V8.

Might as well go ahead with a boosted or supercharged V8 at this point and give people what they want with such a low towing capacity.

You know.... The suspension and other requirements are quite different for a Baja machine versus a towing machine. Just because a Baja machine is not suitable for big tow capacities does not mean that a different configuration is not workable.

If you configure an F-150 for towing, and just towing, it would look and act quite a bit different.

I bet you don't see many (or any) F-250s or F-350s doing Baja (for example).

Plenty of 6.0 and 7.3 Powerstroke Baja and PreRunner trucks...

point being, when the Raptor Ecoboost was announced and everyone made fun of the V6 over the V8 one of the main arguments was the Ecoboost's towing capacity.

So yea, LMAO the Raptor can only do 8k towing after all the hooplah

Not with a stock suspension. And the above truck broke.
