My groups season ends the first weekend in December every year. We then have a few weeks where we rest and relax. Then towards the end of January we hold our annual business meeting to vote in The captain for the field if needed as well as the administrative officers. We also set our schedule for the year. Then our season starts usually towards the end of March into April. We do have a short break during the summer although this year we have one event in July. then in the fall our season picks back up and runs into December. Alot of the time between events is spent checking and repairing equipment as needed or ordering new equipment to replace worn out stuff. Right now we are working on replacing all of our tents. They are pretty much worn out from age. One of our tents is 3 years older then I am and they are all untreated canvas tents. We priced replacing all 8 tents and it will run in the ball park of 8 grand.
Mostly us members. We do take donations since we are a tax exempt non profit organization. Some things we are working on getting grants for to help cover the costs for them. Uniforms are pricey depending on what one wants to portray. Like the items needed for the 14th Regiment of Foote runs in the ball park of 1500 dollars. Other uniforms are cheaper. To do a local militia like the Queens Loyal Virginians for instance will be in the range of maybe 500 hundred bucks not including a musket.
Hello John, how much longer fro your house reno?
Everything is getting too expansive Perry, pretty soon we won`t be able to afford dying. How`s your foot, is it healing good now?
Foot is doing good and I'm doing some garage work today and yesterday . This work bench is a bit complicated and labor intensive but the hardest part is starting to get done . How's your week going Morris, is it warm and dry enough to get into your shop yet John.
I`m glad your foot is much better now, this isn`t the time of the year to be laid up. My week is going great, I`m lovin` this weather after a very long winter. It`s starting to dry up around here and I`m enjoying riding my quad.
I'm doing a lot of catch up right now and my first job starts this weekend if it doesn't rain. We get to put our yard waste into the compost bin so tomorrow I'll get some more of the front yard cleaned up after the garbage gets picked up. I have another 2 or 3 bins of crap to rake up and then it's ready for summer and then the backyard will be ready for cleaning. Right now I'm making a mess in the backyard by using it as a work area .
Some places are still fairly soft from the spring melt and I don`t want to leave deep ruts with my Bobcat or tractor. In another few days it`ll be good to go.
