I bought an American Eagle 1'' 2 core aluminium rad. I believe they rate it to cool up to 5-600hp. I read a lot of reviews, and other than the usual made in China rants, they seem to work. Good luck.
New technology in radiators makes the "higher the rows means the better the cooling" mentality obsolete. From what I have seen, the new 2-row cores have wider tubes that flow/cool better than the 3 or 4 row cores. If you go with aluminum be sure to run a grounding strap to the radiator if it is not hard-mounted and grounded. Dissimilar metal electrolysis via the collant is the main cause of aluminum radiator corrosion/failure.
"Pure" water transfers/absorbs heat better than an antifreeze/water mix, if anything you would need fewer rows with straight water.

I agree, very difficult to compare based solely on rows. From what I've seen available, there is almost no uniform rating system in use by the aftermarket radiator mfr's, either. I'd stick with a name brand like Champion on the chance they do some actual engineering on their products.
Chad77,
Take a look at this page on aluminum vs copper-brass radiators. I changed my mind to aluminum after reading this. Also the aluminum radiator will be quite a bit cheaper than the copper-brass.
I removed my original radiator last week and took it to a radiator guy to have it cleaned and pressure checked. He said it was blocked and leaked. Because i want to keep the truck as original as possible I opted to have him install a new core in it. The price is $675
I am a fan of the crossflow radiator design...here is the one in my 56. The outlets are both on the same tank as the radiator is a dual pass. I built the core support from scratch so that I could eliminate the "hump" above the radiator.
