Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Cable was out most of the day and all night long last night. No TV, No Internet and No World Series Game 7. Someone at the cable company is a prime suspect for some Tar and Feathers! It's been going out so much lately that I think they should be fined or sanctioned in some way!
Got a letter from the Ore. Dept. of Revenue yesterday, sent to the wrong address, on the MIL's tax mess we thought we had cleared up and taken care of. Those people really are much more dense than I thought was possible.
Headed for the mountain. Looking for Lions and Bears. Not so interested in the Tigers...no tiger tag.
Good evening everyone. I was tired of the stock front end look on my truck, plus the chrome on my grill and bumper weren’t looking too hot, so I decided to change it up a bit. I’m happy with the grill, but might do the part between the bumper and grill black also. At some point I’d like to replace my hazy headlights with the black accent Harley Davidson edition ones. I think it’ll really look good after that.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Bear den was empty, so no bears today. Chris was hiding the lion over in Seaside at his place according to the 11 o'clock news.
Weather on the mountain was certainly interesting. High winds, sleet-hail, snow and torrential down pours.
Hunting solo today. My hunting partner was off getting some medical tests done. Going to be in the hospital over night.
Shot a doe on the way back to the pickup from the bear den. It was a doe / spike only so no big racks allowed. I had been at the edge of the clear cut hiding under a poncho waiting for the latest downpour to pass when I spotted two of them. Lazed at 217 Yards. One shot, .308 Winchester (7.62X51), 150 grain SST Hornady at 3000 fps mv. Meat in the pot.
Of course, after moving the pickup in as close as I could get it, I was still several hundred feet short of the 400' of winch cable and rope I had. So spent 30 to 45 minutes huffing and puffing while dragging the deer to the end of the winch line. Got her hanging in the back yard and dressed out. Off to the meat loccer tomorrow.
Currently nursing some muscle groups I forgot were actually a part of the human anatomy.
Nice work Jim! I had a buck tag and never even got to go out.
On the way home yesterday from work, about a mile from the house, I came across a nice fork in the road. He wandered into the brush and then as I rounded the corner I see a doe running, teeth flaring, and guess who is running after her. I guess the rut is on! No venison for me...
