For those who have added the factory hood insulation to later model Excursions that came without it, have you noticed much/any difference in noise level inside the vehicle? Is there any real benefit to adding it? Thanks.
Well I've run with and without, there is zero difference except heat waves on the hood surface. You won't get any noise difference, not unless you sound deaden the firewall. Thermal insulation on the hood, feet away, and outside, isn't going to do diddly squat for dampening perceived engine noise in the passenger compartment.

So, I guess the only real benefit to it would be keeping the hood surface cooler, if that would be considered a benefit.
That's the only thing I have found. Personally the more heat that can get out the better, even if it is just heat transfer through metallurgical properties...
With our 6.0 its slightly quieter above the hood, if that matters. In mn it might keep some of the latent heat from the engine under the hood, good for the cold? It looks like it belongs there, better looking, and and good for glueing my led light too!
