Rebuilt Steering column replacement
All: Many years after removing the steering column in my '66F250, with a COM auto tranny, and having rebuilt and reassembled it, I can't recall how to fit it back into the cab. I tried today and I can't get enough angle on the assembly to get the shifter connection thru the hole in the firewall.
I have already installed a power steering box on the frame and the rag joint is in place.
What part of the re-assembly process am I missing or not doing?

When I do mine I think I'm going to install just the outer tube through the firewall and then assemble it in place.
There is a way to do it. Don used to remove these intact. But he said it was a pain and you had to maneuver it just so.
The shift lever on mine had broke off and I didn't want to remove the turn signal lever and it still took a bit of doing.
