Short block Interchangeability ??
Not sure what I'm gonna do yet with my noisy 300. It's got a Collapsed Lifter and Low Oil Pressure.
I'm debating replacing the short block with on out of 78 F150.
Are there any issues I need to be aware of if swapping shortblocks between model years ??

I've heard there are (3) different 300 blocks out there.
Does anyone know what the difference(s) are ??
I know starting in 87, Ford went to EFI and the fuel pump boss is NOT machined out.... What about other differences ??
Can I use a mid-70s 300 Shortblock with my 87 Head and EFI stuff ??

Is this true ??
I know there is a difference between the Carbed and EFI blocks (No fuel pump hole on the EFI).
How about other differences ??
Can I use a mid-70s 300 shortblock with my 87 EFI head/manifolds ??

Short block Interchangeability ??
I've been researching Engine rebuild Kits for my 87, and I'm coming across ALOT of them ending with the 86 model year. 
Other than going to EFI (fuel pump boss not drilled out) what other difference(s) are there to the block ???
