Looking for some help here. It seems too simple so I feel I'm doing something wrong.
I had steel rims on my truck. Bought a set of micky thompson "alcoa" rims and the lug nuts that That were on the truck not have enough taper to fill up the seat on the new rims before the nut scraps the rim. Seems like the taper depth on the steel ones are not as deep as the new ones.
With that said, it seems I need a 9/-16"-18 lug nut with the standard 60* conical seat. Does that seem right to you guys? Any other option here? It seems simple but I'm just surprised the current lugs wouldn't fit.
Are you saying that the Alcoa alum wheels & nuts that came on my truck that I ordered new, in 1995 that those nuts well not be correct for my ford steel wheel [spare tire under the truck bed] well not work or be correct ? friskyjake
No I think you'll be fine. The ford alcoa and steel rims will take the ford open ended lug. It's most aftermarket aluminum rims that have the deeper seats in them so no worries.
