Replaced mine with a locking cap and put it on the bed rail.

Why do we even have the gas caps???? my flex and explorer dont, pay more get less it seems

I don't understand either. My Escape and Fiesta have the trap doors also. I really like those.

The diesels have the large-mouth fillers for the truck stop pumps. Gas models also have a larger filler because of shared parts. Ford has not developed the "Easy Capless Fuel Filler" for the larger size filler yet.

Thanks for the pic from the 2017 gas truck. Diesel truck has identical cap and hook.
