well my very 1st oil change warning came up! And I desired to hand dry my truck after a truck wash, and then getting up and close I noticed there must be at least 200 or more paint chips on my front bumper alone! But not just there, all over the truck! Is there going to be any paint left in a year? At what point is it a warrantee issue?
Wow, well I found similar issues today detailing my truck. I have numerous chips under the front doors from rocks. Now, I have had a lot of SD's over the years and never have I had this issue. I only have 5k on my truck, not a good sign IMO.
They just don't make things like they used to. My '13 gets chips on it too and I have longer mudflaps, wheel flares and the plastic ford running boards. To minimize chips I had to add a bunch of the 3M clear film along the bottom of the box and I made some guards that bolt on the backside of the running boards to keep rocks from getting through the small opening between the board and cab and chipping the bottom of my doors up. I also have to keep my speeds under 30 on gravel roads.
My buddy works in a bodyshop and he says the paint on all newer vehicles isn't like it used to be. I'm thinking of bed lining the bottom of the truck and be done with it, but I just don't know if that look is for me.
I love the painted look and have had it on my past trucks, but i chose the chrome due to how well it holds up. My painted bumpers looked awesome, but went south quickly. Now i just have to convince my self I like the chrome bumpers. And as above, I have gotten my fair share of chips but over seven years on my last truck (dodge 2500) i never had that many, thats pretty bad.
Also do you have really bad orange peeling right on the bottom of the doors where the door meets the cab? My truck isnt here yet, but ive been feinding out on the lot, and almost all of them had such bad orange peel i almost thought it was a bedliner material.
Only one chip on my bumper after 3800 miles that I touched up a few days ago. Otherwise seems about like the multiple other vehicles I have owned. But I will keep a closer look out now. I did do a Swissvax prep coat and then a Swissvax wax coat as soon as I got it. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.
After looking more closely at the pictures that is really pretty bad. It almost looks like you were behind a sand/salt truck for a 100 miles or so. I would definitely see what your dealer has to say about the quality issue.

The rougher "orange peel" paint on the door bottoms is intentional, designed to offer some extra protection.
painted bumpers look great when new .. enjoy them , they only look worse everytime you wash the truck .. stay with chrome . or deal with chips .. that's just how it goes ..
This is why I will never get painted bumpers.
That said, all vehicles are painted with these water based paints. And these paints are nowhere close to as durable as the previous generation of paint.
I just spoke with a friend who is a painter for our local Ford dealership. He told me that the new Fords have a VERY thin paint. In the past they have been 5 mils thick, but the new vehicles are 3 mils. They are claiming that they are using less paint to cut weight for Obama's fuel economy standards he set a couple of years ago. He said that this is also why Ford went to aluminum, to save weight for MPGs.
I don't know if I believe that whole fuel economy thing. My BS detector went off on that one. How much can a half gallon of paint cut fuel economy? A few empty coffee cups under the seat weigh that much.
