Thanx
putting it in the driver side is just for convenience of disconnecting if you happen to be parked up against a garage door etc. If you walk by the passenger side on your way to the truck anyway it's not a big deal. Just preference.

Personal preference. The original cord may have made it to the left side fog light housing. My preference because: 1) that's the side I get out of, 2) I have a battery tender on the left battery that I also plug in, 3) I have an outlet and short extension cord readily available to the driver's side. BTW, I use the Harbor Freight Cen-Tech® item#62813 for my battery tender. If you buy one of these, check the voltage in the store to make sure the output is correct. The merchant let me plug it in and verify it. That was the only negative reviews I saw on any Harbor Freight battery tenders (any model). I used a Sears battery tender in my 1998 Silverado with dual batteries for years. I think I paid $30 back in the early 1990s for it. The Sears was HEAVY (real transformer) and could bring a low battery up and then tend it. I wouldn't try the same with this HF model. HF instructions clearly say, "Use on fully charged 12 volt batteries only."
