Block Heater plug mount

I found an older 14/3 extension cord, cut the molded end off with about 3' length, stuffed it in wire loom and ran a bead of silicone around the socket end then plugged them together; the cut end was stripped and connected to the power inlet. My preference would have been one less connection but the wire isn't that long, thought about heat shrink butt connectors, may still do it but the cold sucked the ambition out. If you are on passenger side fog light, there is enough length it will be slick, I just rarely am on that side. You'll need a 1 7/8" hole saw for this plug. Also, there is a small hole to drain water out of the plug, be sure that is down.

Finished look, with wood screws installed. They are SS.
I installed my Marinco in the ABS plastic housing around my 2016 fog light (Driver’s side). My method will work whether you have lights or not, since there is still an ABS plastic housing at the same location on the bumper of XL and XLTs. It looks GREAT! I ran into no problems with clearance. I thought I would need to put additional support to prevent from breaking the ABS plastic when plugging/unplugging. However, there is MORE than sufficient room for me to reach my hand through the opening in the front bumper and support the ABS while plugging/unplugging a cord. Instead of cutting and splicing the original cord, I bought an extension cord and cut it to length. I used Oxy-guard on the prongs, plugged the female end of the extension cord into the block heater cord, then electrical taped the two to keep water and dirt out. The Marinco connector was water tight around my round cut-to-length extension cord I put into the fixture. I'd recommend this mod to even the least experienced worker. I did not have to buy a 1 7/8" hole cutter because I had one in stock. I recommend a hole cutter, NOT a spade bit! The masking tape in the first photos was only to help me line up the optimum mounting location and location for pilot holes. (It would be hard to see black ink marker on black plastic.) I mounted mine a little closer to the curve in the plastic than the post by cangim. I wanted maximum strength plastic strength and the plastic part is strongest near curves. I used the three wood screws that came with the Marinco, making a 1/16” pilot hole first. The screws have to go on after the Marinco locking nut, or you won’t be able to tighten the nut.
