I am not worried about more more but the increased fuel economy would be great.
Also, how would Ford be able to prove you used a device like this that caused increased HP or Torque if the claims that the manufacturer are making about no fingerprint left behind?
I am not looking to cause problems with my warranty or cheat Ford but I do like to research online claims as best as I can.
Until you get into 2nd gear (DRW) or 4th gear (SRW), Ford limits the power so you don't destroy the transmission or just shred your tires. You can make your truck a lot faster by removing the torque management, but I don't think it will last long.
Imagine full power from a stop. 925 ft-lbs on the input side of the torque converter results in 1850 ft-lbs on the output side. That is 450 ft-lbs more than the transmission is rated for.
For my case (F450), that 1850 ft-lbs would be multiplied by 3.97 (1st gear) and 4.30 (axle ratio), giving over 31,500 ft-lbs (less losses) to the axles. Even with the max payload in the truck, that would break all four rear tires loose on dry pavement.
I removed the tip-in delay and torque management on my 2009 F150 5.4, and it makes it more fun to drive. (Even my 5.4 can light up both tires if I want to.) With the crazy power of the new 6.7, I think there is much more risk to playing this game.
Lots more HP
Lots more torque
Better throttle response
Moving the entire torque curve to exactly where you want it
Much better MPG
And...stealth technology to keep your warranty
I have tuned my last three ecoboosts as well as my '15 SD. I had no issues, however I used the conservative tow tunes not the hot tunes.
Finally I have never had a tune give me much better fuel economy- probably not even enough difference to pay for the tuners and tunes
Ford doesn't do this stuff for several reasons. For one- emissions.
