Well, I'm very new to Ford Diesel, but I traded for a great truck. It's the 7.3 with automatic overdrive, about a 3.50 rear gear, steel flatbed and a LIFT GATE. I love it. But some systems don't work like the heat and ac, but the biggest problem is I can't read the codes not with a reader or by jumping the connectors. There's nothing coming thru the wires. Another possible symptom is the way the trans engages; reverse is solid, and forward is too only if I don't put it in "D". In "D" it has a soft engagement. I can't seem to locate a wiring diagram to track the two wires down to their source. Any help is, you know..."GREATLY APPRECIATED". Mike

There are no engine codes had no computer. The E4OD transmission has the only electronics.
If you have not done it yet read the stickies, A lot of good information there
Thanks, does TCM stand for Transmission Control Module? Where is that located? I don't know what a sticky is. I tried searching. I googled sticky and ended up on a **** site..I wish I could do a search in this particular forum. I see the "READ THIS" section..are those stickies? I've already spent a lot of time searching online for answers. I guess I could be the only person who ever had this combination of problems..
Here is the FAQ thread, you'll have to browse through it to find E4OD related, but there's tons there. You are not the only one with E4OD problems, E4OD is the code for Problems.
No OD light ever. There is no power to the OBD plug. When i plug in my reader and turn on the ign--nothing. Ive done a lot of reading and quite a few searches. My first step is solving this problem. I've scanned wiring diagrams but can't find one that tells me where the OBD plug wires end up.
the TCM relay is black about 1.25 inches square, mounted on left side of engine bay, under hood, should click when key is put in on position. check all fuses, including interior light. seems silly but some times other stuff is connected to things you think you don't need. the trans is shifted all electrically, the TCM decides when to shift and how firmly to shift. the TPS is throttle position sensor, is mounted on injector pump. RPM sensor is mounted in timing gear case right behind oil fill, and speed sensor, intranny 91 and older, in rear end 92 and later, also must have good working brake light switch, for proper shifting...
