I had my F350 bed sprayed with Line-X by the dealer. I didn't figure out what they had done till months later when I got the instructions from this thread and tried to put the rings on correctly. Once I got the Line-X scraped out of the grooves, I was able to pretty much get the rings on by hand. Had to persuade a couple with a flat blade screwdriver; but, was actually pretty easy.

Well, today I followed the lead from you guys on this post and got my trim rings attached as they were meant to be.
I had a spray in Reflex liner done after I purchased my truck and they over sprayed on the 5th wheel and gooseneck mounts so I had to trim all that away which was a royal PITA!
After I got that all cleaned up I used my heat gun to heat up the trim rings so they were more pliable. I then semi inverted them and they popped nicely into place.
Thanks for the input guys, they are now solidly in place as they should be!

Using a heat gun to make those rings a lot more pliable is the key. Had I not had to clean up a bunch of bedliner over spray on the hitch, it would have been about a 15 minute job.

As info.

Here is the part number from my Ford dealer. I just ordered it because the they weren't installed on the F450 I just got and only two were in the truck.

It is called a Hardware Kit and is supposed to include 4 rings and 4 plugs.
Part Number: BC3Z99000A25A

Question

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone been able to put the trim rings back after installing a BedRug or Bedrug impact mat? I was thinking I would need to shave down the mat thickness near the puck.

Anyone done this or seen any threads on what someone else did?

Thanks
