My driver's seatbelt buckle doesn't work. It doesn't hold seatbelt, and it has gotten to the point where it is no longer usable. I ordered a new one and have it in hand. I have the proper TORX driver.
But, I can't fit the TORX driver between the seatbelt buckle and the center console!
What do I need to do to replace the seatbelt buckle?
Did you check inside the console to see if there's a plug covering an access hole? If not, sounds like you're gonna have to remove the console (never did that, so I'm not sure of the procedure).
Move the drivers seat all the way forward. There will be a large (1 1/2") round plastic plug with a large phillips head on it. You have to move the seat all the way forward to see it. Remove the plug and that is where you will find the torx bolt. No need to remove the console!!
Steina, there is no cutout or access hole. :-( Sucks. Thanks for the tip. I really wish that would have worked.
Ok. I checked it out today on my lunch break and I see what you mean, RedBoat. It looks like by using that screw and a screw at the front, I can slide the seatbelt buckle bracket right off the seat rail. That is one way to go.
I got it taken care of. The bolt that holds the seat rail to the floorboard had to come out. And then, that created enough play that I could get the bolt out of the seatbelt buckle.
