Is it the harness, connector or the DPFE sensor internally?
Thanks for the input, and I'll look over the wiring once more. Hope it's just a loose connection. If I have to spend any more money to get the idiot light to turn off, I'm taking apart the instrument panel and removing the bulb. ;^)
Wonderful when a piece of black tape over the light will accomplish the same end.
But in my mind I'll know that the light is on underneath the tape and it will bother me forever. I overheard someone talking at an autoshop recently about using a long thin drill bit and making a hole straight through the plastic into the light. I had to laugh.
The 1401 code IS the result of a monitor test failure.
The code is an electrical feed failure called a circuit high. It's part of the code description.
Nothing to test for but find the cause.
You really do not want to just let the CEL light on or cover it over for this fault because then you cannot see other failures in the system unless you check for codes with a Scanner, now and then.
Good luck.
Is there a diagram to show where the DPFE is on a 2007 F150?
Also bad wording on test for P0401. I should have phrase it as how to troubleshoot to see if the DPFE is bad or the EGR is bad or the hose is clogged somewhere!
bd,
your posting in the wrong forum for a 2007 vehicle.
The 401 code is a test failure found by the computer.
The test is done two times for each drive cycle.
The failure is low flow rate through the system.
It can be a carbon blocked intake port after the EGR valve or the DPFE has failed and cannot report the test results.
A vacuum hose attached to the EGR may be leaking and unable to open the EGR.
The EGR seldom ever fails.
You can see the code does not tell what part is faulty.
Only the test that failed.
Good luck.
