Building high idle switch for '97 7.3

Hello, new to FTE, but I did come across an old post here talking about high idle switches and it got me on the path but now I'm not so sure.

Link to old post I'm referencing: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/706681-high-idle-3.html

I have my rheostat up to 5k ohms, wire, and an on/off switch. Do I just splice in the tan and brown wires they were talking about and run my rheostat up to the dash, and then do the same with the IVS?

I honestly have no idea what you're talking about, but you can buy a tuner with a high idle built in and it'll plug right in.

Gahd dang, that's a lot of work when you can get a new TPS Chips for $160. After all of the problems I had with the TPS and IVS on my last truck, I wouldn't touch them if they aren't broke! LOL

Not to complicated, it plugs in under the dash, near the data port. With a manual tranny it will come on when the E-brake is applied. Works good if you are jump starting equipment. You can also adjust the engine run speed with the buttons. Mine runs at around 1K with the E-brake set, depending on the battery charge. If the battery charge is a little low and the glow plugs are still on at first start up, it will kick the rpms up to around 1200, then when the battery charge is recovered or the GPS kick off it will drop the rpms back to 1K.

I see a compete kit on ebay for $300, how big is this unit? Does it actually fit into the dash anywhere? I assume when the transmission is placed in park in an auto is when it would use the high idle setting?

I got mine off Ebay. A factory new in box with the cord. If I remember right they cost me 125-150 at the time. They said they were for a van, but they will work for any 94.5 - 2003 7.3. The first one I got didn't have the screen, the second one did. I believe the one without the screen was an older version.
