I need a new proportioning valve, 1978 f250 4x4 dual piston front and drums rear, it is rusted, froze up, filthy, and the seals are deteriorated, I want to replace it with the proper one. The one that came off was cast iron, number D5ta 2b524 fb. Who would have a good supply on one? What would interchange? Bronco graveyard shows one that says correct, but number isn't the same. Might need bill (numbers) Thanks.
Valve, brake pressure differential
Fits:
76-up F250 4WD w/ disc brakes
Part number: D5TZ-2B257-B Marked: D5TA-2B524-FA, FB
Last dealer cost: $169.98, Last list: $283.30
Bob Allen Ford, Overland Park, KS has 1 (913) 381-2999
Hudiburg Parts Depot, Midwest City, OK has 1 (800) 800-5963
Green Sales, Cincinnati, OH has 3 (800) 543-4959
I would avoid Bob Allen at all costs. They're really bad on obsolete parts pricing.
Dealers can charge whatever they want for obsolete parts. These parts have been sitting on the shelf for years, they can't send them back. They have to sit on them, sell them or scrap them. They were written off years ago and anything they get for them is 100% profit. This doesn't apply to obsolete parts suppliers.
I would give Hudiburg a call first. Green Sales has always been decent with their pricing, sometimes near list, sometimes below or above list. I think, like anything, they base their pricing on supply and demand. Bob Allen just plain jacks the price waaay up.
Some dealers are reasonable, some (Bob Allen) aren't.
I am local to midwest city they used to have a horrible reputation but, must of gotten better or they would not of made it in business as long as they have.
Thanks I ordered one from Hudiburg. They had one and everyone else was out. Green sales had 1 for $500. They still have it. I soaked mine and I think it will work. I am going to try it again and see if it is functioning still. I bet I can resell the new one if I decide not to use it. Thanks for the help.
Out of curiosity, not that it matters, but what valve was used on f350 2wd bill?
The '74-up F350 w/ disc brakes used P/N D4TZ-2B257-A. This valve was marked D4TA-2B328-A1A, A2A or D5TA-2B328-C1A, C2A.
This same valve was also used on the 74-up F250 2WD w/ disc brakes and 6900, 7500 and 8200 lb gvw.
Cool. I ordered a new one, installed it and brakes work like they are supposed to. Mine was froze up, had pieces of hay and stuff inside, had just been neglected. Money well spent, thanks for the hook up.

Glad it worked out and your truck is back on the road
