Door weatherstrip for the 78

Door weatherstrip for the 78
The weatherstrip in the brown truck was getting pretty rough, and the doors were rattling, so I decided to change out the door rubber. I've used DC in the past, but this time I used Bronco Graveyard. Seems pretty good, and considerably less expensive than DC.
Old rubber came out easily. Lay the new rubber in the sun to warm up before installation. Use the 3M adhesive, but not too much. Perhaps a 1/4" bead. Let it tack-up a few minutes. Prepare lots of tape strips!
Once the glue starts to tack, find the middle of the rubber strip, and start at the top center of the door. The rubber will be a little long, and you'll trim it under the carpet molding. Lots of tape to hold it all up.
The sides and bottom are easy. Once done, replace the carpet molding. Installed new stainless steel screws. Finally, had to adjust the striker bolts out to get the doors to latch. After the rubber settles down, I'll readjust the strikers
Not sure what happened with the pictures, but uploading from my iphone messed up the script. Had to re-create the post from the tablet...
The weatherstrip was ripped-up...
...and collecting sand
So I pulled it out
Clean up the channel and run a bead of adhesive
Lay the new weatherstrip in the sun to warm up and be more pliable
Use lots of blue painters tape
3M black weatherstrip adhesive. Good stuff
Right side
Use lots of tape
More tape
You've got a little working time
Done, and molding back down
Seals good
And looks good!
