OT?: Detailing the Ex...pics inside

I have seen some amazing results and wanted to try detailing on my own, see what I could do. I ordered a PC7424 along with LCC pads and xmt products: swirl removal 1-4 and the glaze product. Here are some before and after pictures of my excursion...

This was the rear tailgate door, after washing and drying:

another shot:

after:

After using xmt 4 down to 1 and then glaze:

last one:

The other door, notice the old sticker marks that had been on there for years:

After really getting into it with the 4 and then on down...

after:

So what do you all think? Looking for critiques on how to improve.

Thanks for reading.

Holy crap! What an incredible improvement!!

The best "improvement" would be to paint your truck with a matte finish...no waxing...ever! D

Yea that definitely looks better. I think the only way you could have done better was to color sand then buff. But I like the results.

Unreal results - well done!!! My Ex is not as bad as your starting point but it is bad enough (and black) that it bothers the heck out of me when I see it after a wash.

We're having some mild weather so perhaps I should get after it sooner rather than later - this thread just gave me huge motivation. Thanks!

I think that's the dark green color and not black. It's very dark and almost looks black. Mine is that same color

I agree, great results. If you need more practice, you can come work on mine.

Awesome transformation. I like it. Post the links to the products you used. Very good reference info for when my Ex eventually gets that bad.

Thanks for the responses. Yup, the truck is black.

Here is a link to the kit:

XMT Porter Cable 7424XP Light Swirl Remover Kit FREE BONUS!

BTW, I have no affliation with the site, it's just where I bought mine. Shop wherever you want.

Also, I would see these crazy before and after pictures and I wanted to see for myself how legit they were. I think, for my first attempt, it turned out great. Anyone interested in detailing and scratch removal should readup on the FLEX and PC units and then decide on a product they like and try it out...

They have several other ones. The pads worked great and I recommend them. The microfiber towels also are great but you can buy them at harbor freight for a fraction of the cost on that site. Other than that every worked great. I'm really happy with the results. I ended up spending $250 for everything shipped. Porter Cable, all polishes, pads, towels, etc. A little more than I wanted to spend but after the results it's worth it.

Neil, if there are scratches you want to get out let me know. Don't think today is going to work out but I'll be off the rest of the week...

If anyone else is near Colorado Springs send me a PM and I'd be happy to show you what I used and we'll see if we can get a scratch or two out of your vehicle...

It seems that by the time you get done the entire Ex it would be time to start over. :-)
