I called the dealership and the guy that worked on my truck isn't working today so they want me to bring it in Monday .

So let me throw this out there too, because I'm preparing for them to say that it's just normal for the high pressure system. If it was the normal clanging from the pump running off the cam it would be making the noise even after I disconnect the electrical connection right? So what's inside the pump that is electrical that would be making the clanging noise that radiates all through the top of the motor ? And how loud should that normally be?

And do you think they would have any issue replacing g that pump under my power train warranty?

Good thing it's an EcoBoost instead of a diesel. Failed HPFP in a Powerstroke will set you back >$10K out of warranty. The HPFP for the EcoBoost is around a $250 part.

Also would I experience and driveability issues if this pump is somewhat bad, I do experience some nuonces that are subtle, like when it down shifts and is low in a gear I really have to out some foot to it to get it to go, slight delay on take off, my mpg guage ( I know isn't a real accurate guage ) shows right around 14 all the time.

So I must just be going crazy. Took it in, the service manager, tech and myself all listened to it with the engine cover off. Sounded like the high pressure fuel system. Pulled two other ecoboosts in the shop and took the covers off then , all sounded similar. Although the all three sounds just a hair different from each other they all sounded basically the same. I'm must be going nuts, lol

It's tough to get a good feel for a noise when you're just working from a smartphone video. Sometimes phone cameras are quite sensitive and magnify noises, other times they are drowned out. What kind of phone did you take the video with?

Perhaps that's the reason behind the engine cover? I don't recall ever running mine without the cover, but I remember a funny foam insulation around the HPFP on a Focus, presumably for noise insulation.

Took the video on a galaxy s7. Mine has the cover and the foam insulator over the pump . And you can still here it all with it all installed . I wonder if I just have an ear for it now and that's all I hear. But compared to the other two ecoboosts on the lot, it sounded pretty much the same.

Probably normal though. I have an iPhone 7, and if you had a similar phone I would have taken a video for comparison.

Anyone actually know what was done in the redesign of the cam phasers to improve or update them? I can't find any pictures of the guts of an updated phaser. I MIGHT buy one just to see. I have my old cam phasers apart out of my 2011 EB that was rattling, I can't tell anything odd about them and there is no debris or sludge built up. Im traveling now so can't post up pics but I can find images on Google of an original design F150 EB phaser just like mine.

I almost wish I took apart my new ones to take a peek but didn't. There is no published torque spec for the T30 bolts that hold it together and they are torque to yield like a lot of bolts on this engine.

For the record the job is a PIA. $2200 sounds like a bargain. Not going to get into the pissing match about Ford and brands and doom and gloom. It's BS, Ford should have paid for my repair, I got royally screwed. I need my truck so I fixed it. I would feel better about the repair if I KNEW what was updated in the phasers. Just curious about tech.

Nothing was changed in the phaser design... they just have a limited life which is compounded if there is a lack of oil flow to them (casting debris, sludge in oil feeders to phasers). In all honesty, maybe folks with the cold rattle should trade the trucks in and get something different. If there is a financial hit that is less than the cost to fix, then would be worth it.
