Iirc that close / open action you see right post start up is a stock systems function test, regardless of temp. I suppose to show that it is free and actionable, wiring test out, etc. jay
I wired the EBPV with a toggle switch. I use it as an exhaust brake when towing down grades. I also use it as a fast warm-up device like the factory intended. For $20 worth of switch and wiring, it's the best bargain going.
I have an Edge Insight. One of the values I monitor with it is exhaust back pressure, which is reported by the sensor at the top of the exhaust tube coming from the front of the engine's exhaust manifold. It shows how much pressure the EBPV generates, so you can confirm the valve is working as you want it to.

i think that's what I'll end up doing, however I'm gonna keep it hooked to the ECM and just wire a diode into it so I can retain the regular function while driving. It really does make the truck warm up a lot quicker. And the toggle switch will allow me to close it at idle when I first start the truck so it'll actually warm up before I start driving.
