It is the high idle that should de-activate when you hit the brake or throttle, I mis-spoke.
The EBPV should stay closed until warmed up. And yes it will affect performance.
Some have dis-connected the electrical connector at the turbo pedestal so the EBPV will not operate. It will set a P0475 code unless you get or make a fooler.
it must stick closed untill oil temp comes up it doesent stick if i drive with out letting high idle kick in i can watch my boost fluctuate so i know it works just must stick
The EBPV is supposed to stay closed or partially closed until the motor is at or close to operating temperature. You have said that it opens when the motor warms up. If this is correct then it seems as though the EBPV is operating properly.
i un pluged the damn thing..it buged the crap out of me...pretty loud with strait piped exhaust too...its doing what it should be doing..after temps are up it will stay open....tapping brake only stops the high idle not the EBPV on the auto trans...the hand shaker guys got to have the ebrake set before the cold start works...not sure if same rule apply's with the EBPV
